Immigrant Truckers to Lose Driver’s Licenses (The Week)

In his State of the Union speech, Trump called for Congress to formally enact his restrictions on immigrant truckers, despite no votes having been scheduled. The Transportation Department rule prevents asylum seekers, refugees, and DACA recipients from obtaining a commercial license. However, individuals who already possess a license are permitted to use it until it expires. This move reflects ongoing tensions surrounding immigration policies in the transportation sector.

Nuvocargo Unveils AI-Native Freight Engine Aimed at Shippers (Freight Waves)

Nuvocargo has introduced Nuvo AI, an innovative artificial intelligence platform tailored for shippers in North America. This AI-native freight execution engine aims to automate significant aspects of freight logistics, thereby simplifying operations and lowering costs for manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. By deploying over 12 AI agents, Nuvo AI enhances the efficiency of truckload freight management. The platform is designed to address the unique challenges faced by North American shippers, ultimately improving their overall logistics performance.

Trucking Costs Decline for Parts and Labor in Q4 2025 (TT News)

Trucking costs for parts and labor decreased by 1.3% in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter, according to the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council. This decline included a 0.4% reduction in parts costs and a 2.6% decrease in labor costs. The report attributes this drop to lower freight volumes and mileage. However, despite the quarterly decrease, year-over-year costs have increased significantly.

FMCSA’s Final Rule Requiring Stringent History Checks for Non-Domiciled Drivers Starts Today (CDL Life)

Effective March 16th, the issuance of non-domiciled commercial learner’s permits (CLPs) and commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) will be paused until compliance with revised standards is ensured. These new standards entail stricter driving history checks for foreign drivers and restrict CDL eligibility to certain visa holders.

The FMCSA has identified discrepancies in the safety vetting processes between U.S. citizens and foreign drivers, prompting these changes to enhance roadway safety. States that fail to comply with the updated standards will not be able to issue non-domiciled CLPs and CDLs.
