USPS to Phase Out Use of Unvetted Non-Domiciled CDL Drivers by Contracted Trucking Companies (CDL Life)
The U.S. Postal Service is trying to introduce stricter licensing requirements for contracted trucking providers in an effort to improve transportation safety. This will be done by monitoring industry and government data relating to their contractors, as well as the phasing out of any non-domiciled CDL operators.
Safety Groups Urge FMCSA to Kill SDAP Extension (Freight Waves)
Advocates are calling for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to reject the American Trucking Association’s request to continue allowing those under the age of 21 to obtain an interstate CDL. The FMCSA is assessing the program that enables young adults to travel interstate with CDLs, and will approve or deny the continuation depending on the verdict.
California DMV Pushes Back Revocation of Non-Domicile CDLs Until March Following Immigrant Lawsuit (Sourcing Journal)
California has paused the revocation of non-domicile CDLs until March, which was ordered by US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in early November. The state argues that the delay is necessary to ensure no CDLs are wrongfully terminated.
